Season 1[]
(P) Brilith shares the themes of 'Justice' and 'Responsibility' with Sagara.
Chapter 1: A Girl with a God's Name[]
(5) After Asha and Leez Haias escape from Maruna, he tells Gandharva that their target obviously fled to Atera, where the priest has summoned the God of Fire.
Chapter 2: The Queen and the Bum[]
(1) Being the priest in charge of Atera's barrier—which in reality is maintained by Agni—Brilith bears heavy responsibilities with the city's management. Back in the temple, she tries to fend off Agni, who attempts to involve her in a talk about his chest-baring fashion tastes. When a couple of temple guards unexpectedly appear, she pretends that Agni is a simple autograph seeker. Once they leave, she questions Agni about what he knows about the villages that have been disappearing under red skies, but Agni plays dumb.
(2) A bored Agni regrets burning the autograph from Brilith, wonders why she's so late and why she left him alone all day.
(3) Brilith is seen hundled on the ground at night in the Temple of Fire.
(4) Brilith holds a meeting with the temple magicians in order to assign someone to investigate the most recently-destroyed village. Irritated at the lack of initiative by the older mages, she agrees to send Lorraine Rartia.
After evening falls, she waits for Agni on a balcony, not knowing where he went, and grows angry at him for his lateness.
(6) In the 7th month of N5, Brilith summoned a god to distinguish herself from the more accomplished, skilled, and older magicians competing ahead of her to become the next Priest or Priestess of Atera. Brilith apologizes to her mother when she thought that the summoning failed and how foolish it was of her to think she could fill the shoes of her mother. Agni appears at that moment asking the young Brilith why she's crying and if he should go back to the god realm.
Agni creates and maintains a perfect barrier for Atera and Brilith became the new Priestess. Howerver, she reflects that neither her nor Agni knew why the summoning succeeded.
A few years later, Agni congratulates Brilith for graduating and sketches an image of her on the sky with magic. Brilith reminisces of how Agni was the only person she grew close to while growing up in the temple. Agni even changed his appearance to match that of young Brilith. Eventually, when Brilith finds herself speaking informally to Agni despite his status of being a god, Agni maintains that hierarchy is of no importance to him. In the 10 years since the present, Brilith started viewing him as an equal to that point that she felt comfortable enough to vent her frustrations and complaints to him.
When Agni finally returns, Brilith unleashes her frustration, accusing him of never taking anything seriously. All the same while, she secretly scolds herself for her irreverent words towards a god who spent so much time at her side. She then walks away, telling him that she wants to be left alone.
Chapter 3: The Sorrow of Loss[]
(2) Agni is thinking of Brilith as he is sitting in a field covered with flowers. He's making her a bouquet after seeing her reaction earlier. He hopes that she'll like it and will earn him a smile.
(3) Brilith is seen shocked and spitting blood when Agni bursts into white fire.
(4) Before infiltrating Atera, Gandharva discusses his plan with Maruna. He outlines that a god's power is only proportionate to the health of the summoner. Gandharva explains that no summoner, no matter how healthy, will be able to endure Agni's white fire/flame. Since no summoner can handle white fire, whatever remaining lifespan is left after the act of summoning would be spent if Agni chooses to use that particular transcendental skill. Therefore, it almost always end in the summoner's death which will forcibly expel the god back to the god realm, resulting in the chance for Maruna to attack the city.
(5) While fire is raging through the city, the temple magicians also become aware that the barrier is down. They search the temple for Brilith to find her bleeding and barely conscious. Tara then orders her companion to fetch for a doctor. Brilith recounts her last moment with Agni. She thinks that even though she charged at him with accusations and was the the target of her anger, Agni would still turn up and smile at her as always. Her last thought before falling unconscious was how foolish she was.
When Gandharva came to Atera to fight Agni, his taunts made the god lose control of his powers, thus making Brilith fall into a catatonic state from the sudden loss of vigor. Gandharva notes that Agni's summoner is stronger than he anticipated. If Brilith was healthier, then he would have died by Agni's white fire. However, he cooled Agni's flame just enough so that the city won't catastrophically damaged. With Brilith surviving, he devises an improvised plan. Agni pretends that he doesn't care if his summoner dies. Gandharva then echoes that if Agni doesn't care, then there should be no problem when he kills Brilith personally. Agni tries to mute his outrage to detract Gandharva and protect Brilith. He replies that her death itself won't anger him, it would be the fact that a sura killed her. Agni then threatens to retaliate and wipe out the rest of his clan, should he go through with his plan. When Gandharva replies in a nonchalant way, Agni is surprised by his reaction and annoyed that his insight doesn't work on nastikas. Gandharva says that he'll go through with his plan to kill Brilith using his Heartless Edge transcendental and tells Agni to try to stop him if he can.
Asha notes that the barrier is down therefore something has happened to Brilith. She formulates a plans to alternate and reactivate the downed closed space barrier that was protecting the city. She cites that due to the perfection of the the barrier maintained by Brilith, all the other possible fire magician candidates that could take over the barrier, should anything happen to Brilith, have left for opportunities elsewhere. Leez then offers to piggyback Asha to get the Temple faster to which Asha replies with a resounding "No!"
(6) Agni recollects a memory a few years ago when a young Brilith asks how he can stay in the human realm for a long time when her lifespan has been shortened. He tells her it's because he's an idiot and to guess when she asks him what that means.
In the present, Gandharva slightly alters his plan to kill Agni first followed by killing summoner next. Gandharva attacks Agni with Heartless Edge transcendental to which Agni grabs and fights off. His hand start to freeze and Gandharva asks if he's too weak to summon a weapon or if he doesn't want to further damage his summoner's lifespan. Agni mocks Gandharva's guesses and sets ablaze the arm gripping Gandharva. He melts the ice surrounding the two causing a dense, far reaching fog.
Agni succesfully fights off Gandharva but is troubled when he can't teleport back to Brilith without killing her. He surmises that as long as he doesn't raise his temperature enough to reach white flame, he won't hurt Brilith while fighting. Gandharva takes advantage of the fog that is too dense for Agni to see through and surprise attacks him from behind. Gandharva once more shifts his plan to this time just killing Agni. Although gods are immortal, they take decades to resurrect. Agni looks down, satisfied that Brilith won't be further harmed.
(7) Agni is bemused by Gandharva's fickle way of fighting. If he could use Fire Assimilation or Hellfire, he could "play" with Gandharva properly instead of sitting around shivering, but decides against the idea as Brilith could be endangered.
Just when the two are making progress, something flying above them catches Agni's attention. He figures it's the Garuda sura responsible for the red sky attacks. Agni gets to his feet quickly to try to get back to Brilith but is frozen by Gandharva before he could do anything. Gandharva accepts that Agni cares for his summoner however maintains that his daughter is more important.
(8) A flashback of Brilith explains to an unknown someone that she didn't choose to become a Priestess for the money. At first it was because she wanted to become like her mother, but since then, that is no longer the case. She remarks that she'll continue to be the Priestess even if it is an isolating position.
The temple magicians move Brilith to a bed where they observe that she's in a catatonic state stemming from depleting her vigor. The magicians then tackle what to do with the deactivated the barrier. Outside of the comatose Brilith, Lorraine is the next best candidate able to reactivate it. However, she is out of the city still investigating the last red sky attack. Asha comes into the situation asking what has happened. Her thoughts drift as the magicians squabble about who made the situation worse. It is revealed that the person Brilith was talking to in the flashback was Asha. She then volunteers to reactivate the barrier, much to the alarm of the temple magicians.
Asha takes her place in the barrier room and deflects Maruna's attack just in time.
(9) Brilith later regained consciousness, but she couldn't detect Agni's presence anymore, and thought he returned to the god realm because of her. This made her realize that Agni was an important presence in her life, and blamed herself for chasing him away.
Chapter 4: AAA Magician[]
(1) While Asha is recovering in the temple, Brilith permits Leez to stay too.
Lorraine and Ruche visit Brilith after being warned that Asha is not in a mood for visitors, with Leez tagging along. Ruche asks the priestess why the fire barrier is not as strong as it used to be, but Brilith refuses to reveal why. To change the topic, Ruche asks Brilith to tell them a story about Asha. She complies.
Four years in the past, seventeen year-old Brilith is at the Magic Guild in Rindhallow to take her magic exam. The test administrator, Laila Hemawati, tells Brilith that she is required to have a partner, but as Brilith wants a randomly assigned partner, Laila assigns a partner that is around Brilith's age (sixteen); an age that shocks the young priestess. Though she herself graduated early, this was due to her status as priestess; Brilith thinks there is no way for someone so young to have the proper skill. Just then, Asha (whom Brilith assumes is a boy) steps in, and states that age has nothing to do with skill.
(2) Laila reveals that Asha is Brilith's chosen partner, and tells them to sign a paper confirming their partnership. Brilith thinks they should ask for Asha's opinion first, and the latter agrees to partner up, but does so in an insulting manner. Laila later warns Brilith that as Asha is unable to use her right arm, Brilith should try and help her out; but this is proven unnecessary.
Brilith begins the first individual exam for rapid calculations, in which one hundred questions are given with only ten seconds to solve each one. Brilith does poorly on this test, scoring 50/100. Asha, who had been waiting outside Brilith's testing room after finishing, asks Brilith if she did well, and sneers when Brilith says she did. Brilith then begins the second exam, which measures divine affinity. The test taker must place their hand on a stone in the room and recite a spell of their choosing. Brilith chooses hoti agni and hopes that she did well on this test, as she had done poorly on the previous one.
As Asha and Brilith stand in the waiting area outside the testing center for their second exam results, Asha finds out that Brilith is a fire priestess, causing her to further tease Brilith for her first exam score. Just then, Brilith's divine affinity score of 2058 is announced, awing the crowd of test takers and cheering up Brilith. Asha acknowledges that Brilith might not be a totally talentless priestess, and the two head out. When Brilith asks about Asha's score in the third exam, she replies that it was announced before Brilith came out. Brilith assumes that this means Asha scored low, but as they are walking towards the location of the third exam, she hears a loud commotion from the waiting area.
(3) The duo arrive at the site of the third exam, in which the examinees fight mara-ranked suras in a combat simulation. Rindhallow's version of this magical exam differs from the other guilds in the sense that the difficulty of the third exam is dependent on the test takers scores on the previous two exams. There were usually 5-10 suras in these simulations, and the suras do not attack until the test takers attack. The partners scores must not have a large gap between them, otherwise the scores are lessened, which annoys Asha.
The two enter exam room #6, and are immediately faced by hundreds of suras, which shocks Brilith. Without warning, Asha lifts Brilith into the air using bhavati vayu and tells her to attack. Brilith uses hoti agni and, thanks to Agni (who had been sleeping to minimize any interference with the exam) correcting Brilith's spell a bit, manages to exterminate a large number of suras. As Brilith nearly reaches the ground again, Asha boosts her back into the air. Brilith protests, but Asha responds that it is for her own safety as she approaches a group of suras.
(4) In the present, Brilith reflects upon how, due to her sheltered environment, she had considered herself a great magician at the time, even believing that she could surpass her mother's score on the third exam. However, seeing Asha made her realize the truth, and how much she needed to learn.
Back in the past, Asha uses bhavati marut to kill a whole group of suras; a great feat, considering she had only one Marut attribute. As more suras appear, Asha deals with them all successfully. Brilith is once again amazed at how quick, diverse, and flawless all of Asha's spells are. She notes that even as Asha is casting other spells and attacking the suras, she is still keeping Brilith up in the air. Brilith reprimands herself for judging Asha's skill based on her age, and, realizing that there are probably other, more powerful, magicians, decides to train harder. As she does this, she sees a sura behind Asha, about to attack. On reflex, Brilith casts bhavati agni, completely destroying the sura. The fact that the spell was on target despite being cast on impulse cheers Brilith up.
The suras having been eliminated, the duo finish their exam. Brilith cheerfully asks Asha if she could take back all the rude things she had said to Brilith since she had saved Asha at the last moment; only for Asha to tell her that she could have eliminated them all herself anyway, annoying Brilith. However, before leaving, Asha begrudgingly admits that Brilith was better than she had thought, and thanks her for the last shot. Brilith mentally wishes Asha well on the rest of her tests.
(5) Present-day Brilith states that the power Asha displayed in the third exam was so overwhelming that she had forgotten that Asha did not have triple attributes; meaning she could not take the fourth exam.
Past-day Brilith takes the fourth exam, in which the test taker maintains a barrier corresponding to their triple birth attributes; in Brilith's case, the fire barrier. As she takes the exam, the test supervisor is perplexed by her results, noting that though she had heard Brilith had excellent barrier maintaining abilities, her results were only at the same level as the other priests. Not only that, but her vigor recovery was slow, as if she was maintaining another barrier. Brilith realizes that this is because of Agni, and thinks to herself that he probably does not care about her exam scores anyway.
As she approaches the testing room for destruction barrier, she hears Asha and the test administrator arguing over whether or not Asha can take the test, as she does not have the required triple attributes. The situation escalates, with Asha threatening the test administrator, leading to both Brilith and Asha facing Laila. As Asha remains stoic, Brilith defends her to prevent her from being disqualified. She insists that Asha must have worked incredibly hard to achieve such skill, and that her being unable to take the fourth exam due to attributes determined right from birth is totally unfair. After letting Brilith go on for a bit, Laila admits that she was just messing around, and would not disqualify Asha for something so minor. She then hands the pair their magician licenses; a red A-ranked card for Brilith, and a black A++ card for Asha. As Laila explains that the A++ rank was a rank she had just created for people who scored higher than the AA-ranked magicians without taking the fourth exam, Brilith marvels at how Asha's skill surpasses even the top-ranked magicians. However (to Brilith's shock), Asha rejects this card, as she wanted AA privileges to access the Human Search System in Eloth. Laila offers to give Asha her consent to use the system; but in return, Asha should accompany Brilith to Eloth, as Brilith also has business there, and then to Atera. Laila also tells her to ask the other AA magicians aside from her for permission.
The next day, as the two head out of the city, Asha asks if the reason Brilith needs to head to Eloth is because a keepsake belonging to her late mother was there, and Brilith confirms this. She explains that this keepsake was a certain god-level item, but the original successor of Brilith's mother took it and refuses to give this to her until Brilith achieves at least an A rank. Brilith cheerfully remarks that as she's an A ranked magician now, she could take it back, and was now closer to reaching her mother in skill. Asha tells a confused Brilith that she wishes she could have such an innocent goal like hers, and not have to walk on her current tainted path.
Present-day Brilith stops her story, and states that she does not wish to continue, leaving the group disappointed. Lorraine tries to get more information out of Brilith, and they end up bickering until it is announced that Asha is finally awake.
(6) Brilith gives Asha a homemade red hat for her birthday, insisting she try new looks. She spars with everyone whether the hat suits Asha. Leez is shocked and compares herself to how well and how long Brilith and the others must have known Asha.
Chapter 5: The Golden Knight[]
(1) At the temple courtyards, Asha is with Brilith discussing the gods and her lack of belief in them. Brilith takes Asha to the temple library where Asha can read freely. There, Brilith questions why Asha never sticks around long enough and vents to her in a way she can't with the other temple magicians. They are interrupted by Ruche, who says she looked everywhere for them, and drops that even Leez is gone. Brilith assures Asha that Leez should be safe in the city, that she'll request the temple guards to look for her, and escorts Ruche out of the library.
(2) Leez finds a merchant selling curry mushrooms for one gold coin each. She dreams of cooking a special curry-based meal for Asha with Brilith's permission.
Chapter 6: The Past I Yearn For/Longing for Yesterday[]
(6) As Leez steps out of the ladies room, she spots Brilith deep in thought near Asha's room at the top of the stairs. She calls out to her, but Brilith looks surprised and leaves in a hurry. Leez thinks to herself that her reaction was strange; she never really had a chance to talk to her the entire time she has been in Atera.
When Leez asks Asha if she told anyone else where they were going, she is surprised that the answer is no—not even Brilith knows.
Outside Rindhallow, Sagara divulges to Maruna the real reason Gandharva's reluctant to attack Atera. She informs Maruna of the promise between Agni and Gandharva that as long as the god's Priestess remains safe, Agni won't answer any summons. As a work around, Sagara concocted a plan that keeps Gandharva's promise intact. As long as they attack Atera but keep Brilith safe, Agni won't come back and retaliate.
(7) Asha's friends join her at the outer wall to say their goodbyes. Brilith asks if she's really not going to reveal her destination, and mentions that she keeps so many secrets. Asha replies, "And you don't?" Brilith apologizes, then urges Asha to return safely. Asha casts hoti vayu, and she and Leez are gone. Brilith recalls this day in regret, as she was unable to tell her friend everything she hid from her. But she concludes that a day, once gone, can never return.
Chapter 8: The Wavering King[]
(5) Riagara reports to Sagara that the Priestess of Atera needs to be captured alive. Among the information Riagara briefs to Sagara is that Brilith is not a strong magician but still came to be the Priestess at a young age due to her flawless barrier. She is noted to have strong support of the people of the city who revere her as a Queen. Sagara corrects Riagara that it was actually Agni maintaining that flawless barrier while Brilith had no involvement other than summoning the god. She bitterly comments how none of what Brilith achieved came from hard work, but through luck of birth. Sagara orders Riagara to make the necessary preparations and informs her she'll be personally joining so that she may meet the Priestess.
Chapter 9: Rival[]
(3) The city of Atera sent letters to other cities requesting aid. Of the letter's contents revealed, it states Brilith is unable to maintain the barrier.
Chapter 10: The Night it Rained Fire[]
(1) Brilith recalls the many revered magicians in the history of Willarv, but believes that the greatest of them all was her mother, Jibril Ajes. She recalls her mother telling her to wait for the temple magicians, before leaving to face suras attacking Atera while wielding the Staff of Agni. Her mother never returned, and Brilith wonders if she would have stayed in her spot if she knew that.
Lorraine brings along Ari on her visit to Brilith, who, once she arrives, hands her the Staff of Agni and asks her to alter it. She describes it as being the strongest item for fire magicians. Prior to the Cataclysm, the fire priest of Konchez offered her mother 100,000 gold for it. Brilith saw her mother use it, raining meteors of fire onto the battlefield. Another magician took it later on, only agreeing to return it once Brilith obtained her A-rank magician license. Due to Brilith's poor Flame Mastery (a type of silent magic), the Staff of Agni just explodes in her face; which is why she needs it to be altered. Lorraine notes that god-class items can only be altered once per month, and the probability of success depends on the personality of the god; a lenient god would lead to a successful alteration, but dealing with an ill-tempered god's item could lead to death. Brilith recalls how Agni used to joke around with her, and assures Lorraine that the god is kind. Lorraine agrees to try, but asks her why she didn't use it before. Thinking of the last time she saw Agni, Brilith explains that, due to an angry mistake, she lost a trusted friend. While that person was there, she didn't need the staff. She sadly thinks that she must have made Agni angry for him to leave without a word. She thinks he'll never return.
After visiting Brilith, Ari is concerned that the Priestess isn't the happy person she portrays herself to be. He asks Lorraine who her friend could be. Lorraine replies she is just as surprised to find out that Brilith has a close friend other than Asha.
(2) Brilith wonders how Agni thought of the decade he spent as her summoned god, and if he values the time spent with her.
Tara, one of the temple magicians, thanks Brilith for her help with her library duties, since the rest of the staff had the day off. Brilith asks her if she was able to recruit any former priest candidates, who serve as back-ups for the priest, and Tara responds that a few agreed to return after they finished up their current duties. After Agni's summoning, the priest candidates became obsolete so they moved on to other jobs and other cities. Now that the Fire god is gone, Brilith is in need of them again. They hear a commotion in the library, and Tara catches two unauthorized children trying to run off with some books; one of which being Idha Etu, a book that Brilith is very familiar with. Brilith explains the dangers of the Idha Etu spell to the two by revealing it uses up part of the summoner's lifespan. Unlike hoti and bhavati magic, which only borrow a god's power, Idha Etu calls the god him/herself, and it's not always successful. It first requires the summoner to tear a hole in the wall of realms. Part of the summoner's lifespan, a desperate longing, and an unknown factor are needed for this. The second part requires the God to accept the summoning. Often, the summoner dies before their longing even reaches the god. Lastly, Brilith reveals that the greater the longing for the god, the greater the lifespan is taken.
(3) During an attack, Lorraine, Airi, and Ari, noticing that the fire barrier went down for an instant, get into Lorraine's flying car so she could relieve Brilith in case she collapses from maintaining the barrier. Elsewhere, people are taking shelter at the temple, guild, or academy to be safe from transcendental attacks. At the entrance to the Temple of Fire, a long line of people has formed. They are worried because the temple can only block transcendental attacks and wonder if Brilith will be able to manage, but they trust in their Priestess to maintain the barrier and keep them safe. At the temple, the temple magicians are relieved that Brilith was near the barrier stone when the attack occurred so she could restore the barrier as soon as it broke. They are still worried because nobody else has the right attributes for the barriers. While they are discussing this, Brilith coughs up blood, but quickly wipes it before anyone can see. She then promises to hold out as long as she can, and tells the magicians to leave to reassure the people.
(4) The loud engine of Lorraine's car catches the attention of Sagara. As the car flies up ahead, Sagara recognizes the Staff of Agni and concludes that it must be heading to where Brilith is.
Sagara's rakshasa army discusses the current plan for attacking the city: while Maruna delivers blows to the fire barrier, Sagara will get the Priestess and send a signal for Maruna to break the barrier. The rest of the group will then enter the city.
(5) Realizing that Sagara has found a way around the truce between Gandharva and Agni and is in the process of attacking Atera, Gandharva thinks back to Agni's promise that so long as Brilith remains unharmed, he will not respond to summons. Gandharva realizes that the Priestess and the things she loves are dear to Agni as well, like how he himself was to Shakuntala.
(6) Sagara, previously chasing after Lorraine and Airi to get the Staff of Agni, decides to just get straight to the point and find the Priestess instead, as she would be easier to find. Brilith, holding on to the barrier stone, wonders why the next attack has not come yet, as the time between attacks has been too long to just be a recovery period. Just then, she hears a knock on the glass. Brilith looks up, only to see Sagara on the window, greeting her mockingly.
(7) Sagara sends the signal to her army that leads to Maruna attacking the barrier. Brilith only barely manages to block it, and is terrified that she almost collapsed just by blocking one attack. Sagara notes that the Priestess' barrier-holding capabilities were a bit beyond her expectations, but the next attack would be far stronger anyway. Brilith wonders how this person who appears to be a half speaks as though she knows the sura currently attacking, but decides to focus on keeping the barrier up. Sagara tells her to give up. Just then, the barrier is attacked again, and this time the barrier appears cracked. Sagara taunts Brilith and tells her to take her hand off the barrier stone. She stops smiling once she sees blood dripping out of Brilith's mouth. Remembering the promise Agni made, an aghast Sagara tells Brilith to get her hand off of the stone, but Brilith remains firm, mentally apologizing to her mother.
(8) In a flashback, a young Brilith asks Agni what happens and how a summoner dies once using up all of their lifespan. Agni simply tells her that they die of old age, which prompts Brilith to remark that she herself has not appeared to age. Agni tells her that though summoners appear fine on the outside, they are mentally drained and slowly dying internally. Hearing this, Brilith says that she is relieved, as this means that she can keep others from being worried that she is dying.
Sagara's army of rakshasas watch as Maruna delivers another blow to the barrier. Cloche gripes that the barrier still has not fell despite it being cracked, and is surprised that the Priestess is actually good at barrier-holding and not just good for summoning. Hura wonders why Sagara has not taken the Priestess away from the barrier stone, and if she is just watching Brilith restore the barrier. Riagara is confused as to why Sagara has such a fixation on the Priestess, stating that she is not so important to need to face Sagara herself. Cloche simply states that it does not matter anyhow; the barrier will fall at one point when the Priestess' vigor runs out, even though it will take longer than they thought beforehand. An exhausted Brilith is relieved to have blocked another attack, but realizes that she is growing weaker. Sagara is shocked that the Priestess is practically at death's door, as she had assumed based on Agni's promise that Brilith had a considerable amount of lifespan left. Sagara, needing to keep Brilith alive, uses partial surafication to break through the window, and takes Brilith away from the barrier stone. The barrier finally ends up cracking.
Sagara, having taken Brilith outside of the temple, remarks at how amazing and insane it was that Brilith stuck with the barrier stone despite practically being on the verge of death. Brilith asks Sagara what she gains from attacking the city; she was some high-level sura, possibly even a nastika, so eating one sura would be better than just slaughtering hundreds of humans. Sagara tells her that this is true, but she was looking for one specific human with the name of 'Kubera' in this city to kill; but as searching would take too much time, she plans on simply getting rid of the whole city. Despite recognizing that every life is valuable, Brilith asks for a hint to find this person. Sagara tells her that the person in question she was searching for was an outsider who entered the city just before the attack on the tenth month; the reason for the increase in suras surrounding Atera after the tenth month. Brilith asks if Sagara is aware of the person's current name, but she is not. As Brilith does not know anything, Sagara tells her to simply watch the as the city is destroyed.
(9) As the destruction of Atera commences, Brilith once more asks Sagara to stop. Sagara repeats her question about the Kubera, and Brilith requests for time to find that person. Sagara simply tells her to sit and watch the city get destroyed. Sagara adds that Brilith should not even think about attempting to attack her, as Brilith certainly isn't strong enough, and more suras far stronger than Sagara herself are gathering outside to attack. A shocked Brilith watches as suras appear outside of the city.
(11) When Airi and Lorraine come across Tara on their way to Brilith, Airi is angry at Tara when she informs her that she left Brilith alone. On their way to the barrier room, Lorraine notices that barrier is down and assumes that the Priestess' vigor has been drained. She promises to maintain the barrier until Brilith's vigor recovers. When the group enters the barrier room, they find it empty and broken into. Airi surmizes that Brilith was kidnapped. After some planning, Airi orders Lorraine to stay in the Temple to search for the Priestess while she fights against the suras. Considering that Brilith was kidnapped instead of being killed on the spot, Tara will issue an order to the the Temple Guards to look for her; Lorraine says she too will join in the search.
(12) As Sagara comments on the current events transpiring in and out of the city, Brilith attempts to attack her using a god-level dagger, without much success. Sagara tells her to simply stay put, and not to force Sagara to harm her. Brilith simply responds that if Sagara was planning to kill her, she would have done so by this point. As she is being kept alive for whatever reason, Brilith decides that she will resist Sagara in any way she can. Attacking the nastika with a dagger could be seen as rash, but she could take a far more riskier chance.
(13) In another flashback, young Brilith remarks to Agni that he confuses her with his words on summoning and lifespan. Agni replies that a summoner's lifespan was not very important to a god; there's a way around the problem of the summoner's lifespan, though it's difficult to implement. So, he suggests that she become less glum and act cuter by calling him oppa. Brilith leaves.
Back in the present, Sagara faces Brilith, thinking that the Priestess is bluffing as she doesn't have enough lifespan left for a summoning. However, Brilith casts Idha Etu Agni. Shocked, Sagara worries about the repercussions, should Agni decide to take revenge on the sura realm. However, after a tense moment, Agni doesn't show up. Sagara mocks Brilith for bluffing and tells her to weep, but only gets a serious and unexpressive face in response.
(14) At the Temple of Fire, Sagara taunts Brilith again, to no effect, which makes her uneasy. Riagara appears and reports on the activities of the other suras and that they have destroyed the Magic Guild. In order to see Brilith in despair, Sagara orders Riagara to destroy the Temple. Furthermore, she orders Riagara and the rest of her rakshasa army to destroy the city that Brilith loves to the point of never being able to get rebuilt. Sagara eggs Riagara on as she destroys the building, telling her to additionally trample on all of the people running out. Brilith thinks back to the various well-wishes and gratitude she received from the people of Atera, who trusted her to protect them. Brilith wonders what her mother would do in this situation, and decides that even though the odds are against her favor, she wants to try everything she can to save the city. Brilith casts bhavati agni against Sagara. The attack is effective, much to Sagara's surprise, but she easily regenerates. Irritated, Sagara decides to kill Brilith after all, realizing that she doesn't care if the gods attack the sura realm in retaliation. She attacks Brilith with Fatal Touch, a deadly transcendental, promising a hideous death.
(15) Suddenly, Brilith goes up into flames as a confused Sagara watches. She wonders if the summoning spell actually worked.
At the sight of Agni, Brilith smiles and deduces that she's dead, and that she'll go to Hell for offending a god. Agni jokes that if that were the case, he could have simply waited. He proceeds to heal her injuries, then asks her if she still wants to live.
Brilith thinks the answer is obvious, but realizes that she doesn't remember anything, and that nothing seems to matter. Agni looks at her sadly, and explains that humans leave everything behind when they die. Some become even more obsessed after death, but it appears that it isn't the case with Brilith; she lived her life on responsibility alone. He concludes that he shouldn't give her life back if she doesn't want to live. Brilith, aghast, tries to remember something, anything about her life; who she was, who was beside her. Just as all hope seems lost, she remembers Asha, smiling at her and telling her to hurry and not fall behind. She immediately tells Agni that there was someone important to her. Brilith wanted to tell her the truth the last time they parted. Someone needs to hold that person here, or she'll disappear. She recalls the silhouette of Asha facing a barren site. Agni is silent at first, then smiles and accepts that, noting that the reason doesn't matter.
The fire dissipates, and Brilith and Agni appear before Sagara. Sagara is incredulous, as Brilith shouldn't have enough lifespan left to summon Agni, and the God of Death is the one with jurisdiction over lives. Agni admits that Death was hard to beat, and that he nearly ended up stuck in Hell for 10,000 years. Summoning Riagara and Pingara, Sagara states that his summoner should have run out of vigor and should have no life force left, so Agni shouldn't be able to use transcendentals. Thus, they should be able to kill him. She realizes that Agni must have killed the God of Death instead, rather than ask him to extend Brilith's lifespan. She finds this both unbelievable and pointless. Agni stays relaxed however, and even starts fooling around. Brilith, her memories restored, is shocked that death could make her forget her position as Priest. As she wonders at how easily she failed at her role, Agni reassures her, and reminds her that vigor replenishes faster when she's happy. Before Brilith can spend more time worrying, Lorraine bursts through the door, holding onto a runaway Staff of Agni.
(16) Before Lorraine can hand the Staff to Brilith, Agni asks to have it instead. Recognizing his identity, she quickly hands it over. Meanwhile, Lorraine admits to Brilith that she, Ruche, and others already suspected that Brilith had summoned a god, but they kept quiet because they assumed that Brilith had her own reasons. When Agni decides to chase after the fleeing snakes, Brilith gets worried over her low vigor, but Agni assures her that her vigor is replenishing fast, and, much to Lorraine's shock, gives her a kiss to make it replenish faster. It works, but Agni gets slapped by Brilith. Agni then summons two fire snakes to chase the Ananta suras.
(17) In Hell, after being beaten by Agni, a sulking Yama decries the unfair division of work to Brahma. The God of Death is peeved at how some have to "work day and night, while others loaf around all day and then prance off to visit women." Brahma replies she'll take on his workload and, after looking around, guesses that another of Agni's courtship is going wrong based on his missing weapon. She finds it interesting how Agni ignores the advances of countless goddesses in favor of a relationship that is more troublesome for him.
In Atera, Agni notes that he killed off the suras near the city's boundaries, but the ones which were in the city escaped. He smiles at Brilith and disappears to give chase. Brilith wonders why he previously left, and feels sad because she seems to be the only one of the two who was worried. Lorraine tells her to cheer up, as reinforcements from other cities should arrive after the Time of Wind, and will heal those who have not died. Brilith is happy that Lorraine is worried about her, until Lorraine starts complaining that she is jealous of Brilith.
(18) After Agni realizes that he used a copy of Vasuki's transcendental against his clanmates and former lover, Sagara, he apologizes to Sagara saying he wasn't thinking at all. Agni truthfully admits to the nastika he was only occupied with trying to impress Brilith.
(19) While Gandharva pretends to be the mastermind behind the attack on Atera, he "reveals" to Agni that Brilith's survival was his plan all along in order to gain the god's leniency for not only for him, but also for Maruna and Sagara as well.
(20) Gandharva cautions Agni that if he continues to meddle and finds that his "interests conflicts with his," he will lose everything from his city to the life of his Priestess, therefore it is better for the god to never speak of whatever knowledge he gained today.
In Atera, Tara reports to Brilith that magicians from Mistyshore arrived early and joined the battle, and informs her of other cities' activities in aiding them. Despite the minimal damage, Brilith still feels sad for those who have experienced loss. Brilith thinks about the rescue efforts of other magicians within the city, then notes that people will praise her for saving them with the barrier, not realizing the truth. However, Brilith is depressed by the realization that she isn't as devoted to her city as she thought, as she forgot about it in the face of death. She thinks she has nothing but luck. Agni shows up, telling her that he chased away the suras, and telling her to be optimistic. Brilith wonders how sincere he is, and whether he returned for the sake of entertainment or out of pity. Meanwhile, Agni offers to help her choose new clothes. Brilith is worried because Lorraine found out about Agni. However, Agni hugs her from behind and apologizes. Brilith thinks he is apologizing for how he left without telling her. She smiles and tells him that he doesn't need to apologize, then asks him to let her go. Agni keeps hugging her while she complains of the heat.
Chapter 11: The Power of Names[]
(1) At Lorraine's shop in Atera, Lorraine convinces Brilith to buy a new outfit. Brilith and Ari like the outfit, but Airi thinks the blue color doesn't fit the concept of fire. Lorraine then quotes a very high price, based on the high price of materials, and the fact that she is the creator. Brilith decides to pay for her dress herself instead of using temple funds, noting that the city's restorations will be quite costly.
Back at the Temple, Brilith asks Agni about her new dress. Agni is disappointed by how much the dress covers her, and because blue is Gandharva's color, but he nonetheless tells Brilith to keep wearing it to keep her happy. When Brilith inquires about the Staff of Agni, hoping to learn how to use it, he makes it reappear out of thin air. He then explains that a god-level item is a part of a God, but not a part of his 'body.' For a God, the body and soul cannot be separated, and their power, memory and name form a single concept. To Brilith, the first part makes sense, since Agni can visit the underworld freely, but she inquires about the name and about humans with a god's name. Agni tells her that apart from offending some gods, humans having a god's name usually isn't a problem. Even in Atera, there are five people named Agni. Thinking of Sagara, Brilith tells him that the suras that attacked Atera were searching for a human named Kubera. Agni frowns.
(2) For failing to kill the one they were after in Atera, Sagara lays some of the blame on herself for getting distracted by the Priestess,
Chapter 12: Lies for You[]
(12) At the Temple of Fire, Agni is brooding over someone's absence when Brilith suddenly calls him, reminding him of the magicians' meeting. Agni promises to attend, much to her surprise.
Kubera - Season 2[]
Chapter 13: Lost[]
(2) In Atera, the meeting to discuss the sura attack on the city is about to begin at the Magic Guild. Brilith rehearses her speech but wants to avoid calling Agni "Babo Kim." She then becomes upset over his lack of preparation and leaves him behind. Agni makes the decision to break one of Visnu's rules after seeing Brilith's sadness over having to hide him.
(3) Brilith rehearses her speech for a meeting concerning the attack that had recently occurred, and is annoyed that Agni is not taking the meeting seriously. After seeing Brilith's thoughts over being sad that she has to conceal his presence in the city, Agni decides to break Visnu's rules and reveal himself.
(4) Brilith gives her speech as audience members wonder who that stupid-looking guy standing next to her is. Several people consider her account of using the Staff of Agni to ward off the suras to be a bit far-fetched. In a panic, she then presents "Babo Kim" as an expert on the staff, creating a buzz among the audience. Upon further questioning, Agni finally reveals his true self. Agni's unexpected reveal shocks everyone, especially Ruche. When Brilith wonders what Agni's plan might be, she realizes he has none at all. He then hurriedly changes back to "Babo Kim," only to be glared at. So, finally, he introduces himself to the humans as the Fire God Agni.
(4) After Agni reveals himself, shocking the members of the meeting, Brilith wonders what Agni's plan might be, but realizes that he has none at all.
(5) Praul Ajes learns of the reveal as he arrives late to the meeting. He realizes that Ruche had been right about Agni's summoning before anyone else knew. Brilith is still worried about the Fire God's revelation. Agni recalls a recent conversation with the Death God, who he apparently defeated in order to extend Brilith's life, but who told him on that occasion that his efforts ultimately would be in vain. Agni continues to hide the true reasons for his actions from Brilith.
Chapter 14: Blood/Hide[]
(6) Brilith, intimidated by Mr. Kasak, watches as he and Agni have a conversation on the roof of the temple. Mr. Kasak insists the planet is in danger while Agni dodges the issue, but then finally Agni calls out to Brilith, stating that he and the Half dragon have come to an agreement to protect the planet. He casually manages to insult Mr. Kasak by calling him "draggony" and "lizard," and they begin to fight. Brilith can't believe that those two will protect the planet...
Chapter 15: The Weapon of a God[]
(1) Brilith tries to use the Staff of Agni on the vacated site of the destroyed Temple of Destruction, but it only explodes in her face, causing Agni (who was secretly watching) to burst into laughter. He explains that she would need to know silent fire magic, but it's a good thing she's not adept at it because it means her humanity is strong.
Chapter 19: Rift[]
(10) Brilith enters Agni's quarters, and as she informs him that Mr. Kasak has something important to tell him, she steps in some spilled liquid as she surveys the rest of the mess in the room. She catches him staring out the window into the distance, and tells him she'll start picking up so he should get going. She then wonders what's so interesting outside, so she looks out the window as well. Agni gets nervous and suddenly wears a custodian outfit, telling her he will do her bidding.
Chapter 21: Frozen Tears[]
(5) During a conversation with Mr. Kasak, Brilith confirms several pieces of information regarding the attack on Atera: that several superior suras have come to Willarv from the sura realm, that the person called 'Sagara' was really a nastika, and that one of the suras caused all the red sky incidents as well as the two attacks on Atera. She is upset with Agni's apparent indifference to her investigation. After he sends Mr. Kasak to Kalibloom, Brilith wants to know what's going on there and if he will fight someone, but Agni hints that he may have to return to the god realm if she pries too much. He tells her to eat a nice meal and go to sleep, then leaves. Brilith feels sad that she is so useless to him awake.
(6) When Agni confronts Gandharva in sura form, he has to hold back his attacks in order to allow Brilith to recover her vigor.
(11) During Agni's conversation with Gandharva while using his Fathomless Fire transcendental to avoid eavesdroppers, he suddenly senses that Brilith is in danger and stops the transcendental.
(13) Agni, having returned to Atera via candle, hurries to Brilith, only to find her asleep and otherwise fine. The guard stationed at the room reports that Brilith's only visitor was Agwen. Agni realizes that he must stay in Atera from now on in order to protect her from any more threats.
Chapter 23: The Good/The Line[]
(1) During a meeting in Atera, Brilith reads a notice from Mr. Kasak stating that he plans to stay in Kalibloom for a while. Agwen is saddened by the news, thinking her dad has forgotten about her, but Agni cheers her up with a white lie.
Chapter 24: Taboo[]
(6) During a meeting in Kalibloom, Lutz, Siera, and Claude mention Brilith, along with Lorraine, Airi, and Teo, as someone who would lend support to Asha if the issue of her homicide cases comes up again.
Chapter 29: Isle of Myths[]
(3) At the Temple of Fire in Atera, Brilith is confused when Tara informs her that she will be leaving for the magician's conference in Aeroplateau for the verification of Asha's magic usage record, and that Lorraine, Airi, and Ruche have already left. Brilith protests that it's not possible that she hasn't received any report on this, when Agni produces a stack of messages from all of the priests in all cities (although Mistyshore is not mentioned). When Brilith tries to grab them Agni burns them all up. He then tells Tara he wants to spend some time alone with Brilith, causing the temple magician to run off in embarrassment. Brilith protests that it's not what it seems, when Agni tells her they have something important to discuss.
Chapter 31: Your Justice and Mine[]
(7) When Brilith talks with Agwen about some paperwork, Agni bursts into the room announcing that Aeroplateau and all the conference magicians have joined Rindhallow for battle with the suras. Agwen, concerned about her father, asks the god if he couldn't help out like he did last time (in Kalibloom). Agni replies that he must stay with Brilith, who then tells him that he could go to Rindhallow and take her with him. Agni reads her thoughts as she worries about both their reputations if they don't go, and relents.
(11) Agni carries Brilith to Aeroplateau using a transcedental. He notes that Brilith really must have full trust in him, as otherwise she would have burnt to a crisp. This embarrases Brilith, and Agni jokes with her for a little more before telling her that they are headed to a certain safe location.
(13) He takes her into Sky Tower to a room surrounded by fire and explains that this is where he used to give out oracles. He tells Brilith that it is a very safe place so he can fight without worrying about her. He tells her that he knows she prefers to take action, but he also knows that she is devoted to the people of the world, so she should keep a positive state of mind. He kisses her on the forehead before leaving. Looking out a panoramic window, Agni seems unsure about leaving Brilith alone, but Saha tries to reassure him that he will do his part in safeguarding her.
(20) At Sky Tower, hearing voices outside, Brilith approaches the doors in her chamber. When she tries to open them, she finds that she is locked inside. She begins to worry about what is going on outside, but then tries her best to convince herself that everything is fine.
(21) After murdering Saha, Asha delivers a deadly shock to Lorraine, but notices that a bit of the electricity is flowing towards a door at the side. Remembering that unexpected directions in the flow of the spell indicate that something else, possibly a hidden enemy, was also struck by the spell, Asha goes towards the doors and opens them. She finds a sobbing Brilith inside, who asks Asha why she would do something like this, and simply cannot process what Asha has just done. Asha simply closes the door on Brilith as she protests.
In a flashback, Asha and Brilith are having a picnic together. Brilith compliments Asha, noting that any hard work Brilith put in to becoming a good magician pales in comparison to Asha's efforts. Asha responds that this was only because Brilith always chose the path of virtue, which confuses Brilith. Asha explains that the things Asha had to do were not things that Brilith would ever do, or even begin to comprehend.
Back in the present, the resulting distress causes Brilith's vigor to plummet, and the Death barrier shuts down.
(27) Somewhere in a limbo-like wasteland, Agni remarks to a confused Brilith that she is back here again. He then asks her if she remembers anything else apart from himself, but Brilith seems unable to. Agni admits that she should have departed the last time, but he forced her back because of her one regret. He takes her hand and they begin walking to the entrance, but Brilith suddenly stops, her eyes filled with tears.
Back in Rindhallow, Agni (with an unconscious Brilith in his lap) tells Chandra that she can hold on a little longer, but his vigor rate will not increase since she is unable to handle waking up yet. Chandra suggests that he let her go so that someone else can summon him who can endure his power, but he refuses.
(30) Agni materializes in Sky Tower's flame chamber to check on Brilith, who is still unconscious. He gently strokes her hair.
Chapter 32: Loser[]
(1) Agwen recalls Brilith asking her about the enormous amounts of money she is receiving daily from Rindhallow, which is larger than what the average person could dream of earning in their life. When Agwen says that her father is working there as a mercenary, Brilith notes that Kasak working in high-danger zones just to send his earnings to his daughter almost certainly means that Mr. Kasak cares for her, though he may not say so out loud. Agwen seems to consider Brilith's words.
Chapter 34: What Remains[]
(1) Leez visits Brilith and Agni, trying to see if they remember Asha. She tries to remind Brilith of how they had met before, but Brilith does not seem to remember her. Agni tries to dismiss Brilith, but Leez then starts talking about Asha, asking Brilith about Asha being her old friend, taking the magic exam together. Agni tells her to stop, but Leez continues, speaking about the strangeness of everyone forgetting Asha, how ridiculous it was that even Saha's death was labelled as a "mysterious attack", for she heard Asha herself say she killed him. Brilith suddenly cries out, dropping to her knees, and Agni drops beside her, telling her soothing words and dismissing a confused Leez.
(3) Yuta mentions that he spoke to Agni about Asha, but even he did not seem to remember her. Leez asks if Agni got angry upon hearing about Asha, or if the priestess got anxious upon hearing his words. Yuta notes that the god was not angered, and naturally the priestess was not able to hear him due to the nature of sura-speak. Leez then tells Yuta of her encounter with Agni and the priestess, noting that when she brought up Asha, the priestess panicked, leading to Agni dismissing her. Yuta says that although he was not certain as to why the priestess would be bothered, as humans lose vigor when under stress, it would affect Agni if his summoner lost vigor.
